Requirements for Getting a Learner's Permit/License (Under 18)
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Provide proof of enrollment in Driver's Ed (must be enrolled in a state-approved driver's education course or be 30 days away from beginning a course)
- Provide acceptable proof of identity
- Provide a signed/notorized Parental Consent Form (parent/guardian must give consent)
- Pass a vision test (and hearing exam)
- Proof of Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TSLAE) course completion
- Pass a DMV written test (80% to pass)
- Pay a fee
Requirements for Getting an Operator's (Driver's) License (Under 18)
- Must be at least 16 (or 17) years old
- Hold learner's license/permit for 12 months or age 18 (whichever comes first)
- Have driven a certain amount of hours with the learner's license/permit (depending on state in between 20-60) and a certain amount of hours from night driving
- Provide signed Certification of Minor Driving Experience Form
- No moving violation convictions for one year since learner's date of issuance (OR may have one moving violation as long as adjudication was withheld)
- Passed Driving Skills Test
- Proof of completion of driver's education course
- Affidavit/Consent for Minor to Drive Form
- Acceptable Proof of Identity
- Pay a fee
